Apply AI and automation where it adds value

Most organisations feel the push to “use AI” but struggle to apply it in ways that actually help teams. Experiments stall, tools pile up, and manual work still dominates. The Applied AI & Automation programme gives your team the skills to:

Apply AI tools with purpose.

Reduce time spent on repetitive processes through automation.

Design workflows that connect systems and teams more effectively.

Adopt AI in secure and ethical ways.

Who is this training for?

This programme is for professionals who already help improve how work gets done but haven’t had formal training in AI or automation yet. Typical learners work in operations, finance, customer service, HR, IT, marketing, or project delivery.

No AI or coding background is required. The focus is on practical application rather than technical specialisation.

Eligibility criteria:

Employed in England for 30+ hours per week

Current role involves working with data regularly

Aged 16+ (no upper age limit)

Able to commit to a minimum of 6 hours of off-the-job training per week

Blended learning with 7 practical projects

Future-proofed curriculum

Self-paced, 100% online

1:1 mentoring and community access

Core modules

01

AI Literacy

Learners start by building a solid, practical understanding of modern AI: what it can do, where it fails, and how to use it responsibly at work.

02

No Code AI Applications

This module focuses on applying AI and automation to everyday work using accessible no-code tools.

03

Low Code AI Applications

As confidence grows, learners move into low-code approaches that allow more flexibility and control, while maintaining oversight and security.

Optional modules

Optional modules give learners the chance to deepen their skills in image generation, multi-modal AI tools, and AI for communication and presentation. Completing optional modules can also reduce future off-the-job training requirements for related apprenticeships, supporting efficient progression.

End Point Assessment (EPA)

The programme concludes with an independent End Point Assessment (EPA). Learners present a portfolio of projects and complete scenario-based tasks to demonstrate their competence. By this stage, learners have already delivered tangible improvements at work, so the EPA serves as formal recognition of their impact. Passing earns the nationally recognised Level 4 AI Automation qualification, validating their ability to analyse data, automate workflows and apply AI responsibly at work.

FAQ

Who can enrol?

This programme is open to employees who are employed in England and work 30+ hours per week. It’s designed for professionals who use data, systems, or processes as part of their role and can commit to a minimum of 6 hours per week of off-the-job training. No prior experience in AI, automation, or coding is required.

What does it cost?

The programme is valued at £18,000 and is fully funded through the Apprenticeship Levy for Levy-paying employers. There are no additional training fees for eligible organisations. If your company doesn’t pay into the Levy, you may be asked to contribute a co-investment fee of 5% of the training cost. In some cases, this can also be covered through a Levy transfer from another employer. Our team can advise on funding options and eligibility as part of an initial conversation.

How much time is required?

The apprenticeship requires a minimum of 6 hours per week of off-the-job training. There is no classroom attendance and no rigid timetables, making it easier for employees to balance learning with day-to-day responsibilities.

What support will employees receive?

Each learner is supported throughout the programme by a personal tutor providing regular one-to-one check-ins and technical mentors who review projects and provide practical, industry-grounded feedback. They also receive structured learning materials, clear milestones, and ongoing guidance. This support helps learners stay on track, apply skills confidently, and complete the programme successfully.

What qualification will my staff achieve?

On successful completion, learners achieve the Level 4 Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Automation Practitioner certificate — a nationally recognised qualification aligned with the official apprenticeship standard. It demonstrates practical capability in applying AI and automation responsibly in real organisational contexts, supporting both career progression and business impact.
